Roscommon & District League Round Up 15/5/2012

A well struck free kick by Giles Mc Donagh was parried by the Ballymoe keeper Padraig Fallon but the ball broke to Damien Webb. From a tight angle he volleyed to the Ballymoe net.
It seemed only a matter of time before Castlerea Celtic increased their lead but a combination of determined defending and poor finishing kept Ballymoe in the game.
The second half started in a similar fashion with Ronan Collins    Keane Morgan Tom Shaughnessy Keith Collins and Gregory Grogan under constant pressure. Ballymoe had an ace up their sleeve in the form of leading goal scorer Colm Killackey and with sixty five minutes played he won a penalty kick when he got goal side of the Castlerea Celtic defence and was taken down. Tom Shaughnessy made no mistake from the penalty kick. Shortly afterwards a long range volley from Nathan Bligh beat the Ballymoe keeper but was ruled out for off side.
Colm Killackey forced a stunning save from the Castlerea Keeper Damien Fannon and it looked like extra time was on the cards. However with just two minutes left to play Padraig Joyce and Pat Flynn worked the ball to Colm Killackey and from well outside the Castlerea Celtic penalty area he volleyed the ball into the roof of the Castlerea Celtic net.

Ballinasloe Town will face Ballymoe in the final on Sunday the 27th May following a 2 – 1 win over neighbours Skyvalley Rovers at Lecarrow. A gale force wind spoiled the game but to be fair to both teams they did succeed in playing good football. With fifteen minutes played in the second half Skyvalley Rovers were awarded a penalty kick when Jason Clogher was fouled by Garry Furey. However Paul Hickey made a fine save to stop Conor Duignan’s spot kick.
