Rahara Rovers 2 - Ballaghaderreen 2

A top of the table Ballaghaderreen team came to the Clover Park, Rahara on Sunday but found a dogged Rahara Rovers team unwilling to give up three points easily in the Killeen Sports Ground Division One League.
After five minutes, Ballaghaderreen showed why they were doing so well this season when Shane Towey headed to the net. Rahara's nerves started to settle down and ten minutes later Niall Carney slotted home a great cross from his older brother Padraig. Indeed Rovers could have taken a lead into half time had Paddy Glennon and Donal Donnelly converted their chances. Donnelly made amends for his first half miss by pouncing on the end of a shot from Davy Glennon that was too hot to handle for the Ballaghaderreen keeper.
There were good chances for both sides, but a resolute Barry Nestor in the Rahara goals was finally beaten when Damien Donnelly's attempted clearance cruelly hit a ricochet off Stephen Foley into the Rahara net with 15 minutes remaining.
All Rahara players battled very well until the final whistle and thoroughly deserved the draw.
This result will give encouragement to manager Philip Marshall whose team have been unlucky in a few matches this season. Final Score: Rahara Rovers 2 – Ballaghadereen 2.
No fixture for either Rahara Rovers A or B teams next Sunday. Rahara Rovers FC would like to with the Roscommon Oscar Traynor team the best of luck in the semi-final V Kerry next Sunday.

RAHARA ROVERS 12/12/2011
Rahara went down the road by Lough Funshinagh to the near neighbours St. Johns last Sunday and were very unlucky to come out on the wrong side of a 3-1 scoreline. Rahara dominated both halves but didn't have the killer instinct in front of goals that the home side produced.
Paul Flaherty, David Mulkeen, Luke Donnelly, Noel Moran, Paddy and David Glennon all had shots saved and quite a few went just wide. Niall Naughton was the only man able to pass the resolute Aidan Fallon in the John's goal.
It was a very sporting game with both teams giving a good display of passing. Down through the years there has been nothing to choose between the teams and on Sunday the break went with St. Johns.
Rahara Rovers are having a race night in Hamrock's, Athleague on Friday 23rd December. All are welcome.

The same player could have doubled Rahara’s lead 5 minutes later with a carbon copy chance which was just centimetres wide. Both teams played some good football but it was David Cisowski for Ahascragh that equalised from 12 yards in the 39th minute. Rahara Rovers had a few near misses in the second half but had to settle for a point.
Rahara Rovers ‘B team travelled to Taughmaconnell and held Division three league leaders Skyvalley Rovers ‘B to 0 - 0 for 80 minutes but unfortunately conceded 3 goals in the dying minutes to put an unfair reflection on the game.
