In this post player scout, Aidan McHenry recommends 5 Spanish players to sign on FM23 and we’re very lucky to have him write for us. Aidan works as a scout across Germany and Spain.

Spain and La Liga develop some of the most technically gifted rising stars in world football. Sneaky signings like Pedri and more recently Pablo Torre from Racing Santander happen more often than meets the eye. These are five lesser-known Spanish players to take note of in your next Football Manager 2023 save in Spain.

Monchu (23), Real Valladolid

Monchu is an all-rounder number 8 that patrols the whole midfield with his quickness and high work rate. He is a jack of all trades and a decent free-kick taker that is probably playing at a club a little lower than his level right now. Monchu has room to grow and could play in a club of Real Sociedad’s level easily. He signed permanently with Valladolid in the summer after impressing on loan and has continued to do so while being a mainstay in Pacheta’s XI.

Arnau Martínez (19), Girona

Martínez is a hidden gem in Catalonia at the right wingback and right back positions. The converted center-back has excellent defensive technique, pace, and work rate. He is not just dominant on the defensive right flank, his combination of vision, pace, and dribbling help him control the offensive right-wing, too. For Martínez, the sky is the limit—and if you’re playing an FC Barcelona save, bringing him back to the Nou Camp is a must.

José Copete (23), RCD Mallorca

Last season Copete was a revelation as a well-rounded left-footed center-back for SD Ponferradina in the Segunda Division last season and turned that into a move into La Liga with Mallorca. He has already proved to be a comfortable option at center back this season and another move to a more established club could be on the horizon. In your save, sign him up if you mainly run a three-at-the-back system.

Suleiman Camara (20), UD Ibiza

Camara signed on a free transfer from Girona in the summer and has emerged as an impressive physical and technical talent. He is a strong and aggressive inverted winger with good pace. Technically though, he is a great dribbler with both feet and plays the left inside forward position very well. Camara cuts inside and controls the ball well to create for himself and others. He is a very under-the-radar player to sign as a steal and quick fix at winger. In a Segunda Division save, Camara would the perfect player to grow with your team as it rises to La Liga.

Juan Soriano (25), CD Tenerife

Soriano is my final recommendation and a solid goalkeeper for any club in the Segunda Division and deserves a shot with at least a relegation-threatened La Liga squad. He is a left-footer with a good all-around game and the same encouraging leadership qualities. Soriano’s shot-stopping efforts during Tenerife’s promotion playoff run were essential to them reaching the final before falling to Girona. He made some incredible saves along the way and carried that momentum into this season, allowing only 16 goals in 15 matches with 4 clean sheets at the time of writing.
