BREAKING NEWS

With the team doing well in the league I was linked with a much bigger club and for the first time I’ll be staying in the same country

Outside of the relegation zone after 14 games and a job was too good to turn down, I resigned to make sure we didn’t have to worry about compensation.

Schalke are a big step up

In the Europa League, A rich club with a history. On a poor run and the chance for me to make the next step

A bank balance of €30m more than we had at Bochum

Weekly wage budget of €750k per week more.

The other thing that appealed was “sign players under 23 for the first team”

Whilst Schalke are bigger than Bochum they’re in that what I would call the third tier in Germany

Tier 1 – Bayern
Tier 2 – Dortmund, RBL
Tier 3 – us with the likes of Bayer, Gladbach, Frankfurt, Wolfsburg etc

So with that in mind I want to utilise the Under 23 signing culture and focus on buying in talent to develop to sell on alongside developing our own talents.

I will make sure that every signing we make is under 23.

We then done our research into this club and got the recruitment focuses set up.

After looking into the squad 3 positions were highlighted as key weaknesses that needed to be addressed right away.

Goalkeeper

Right Back

Striker

Using our scouts and knowledge we set off to find 3 players

Winter window

We moved on a few unhappy players and we saw the first big sale of a prospect as our left back Galvez left for €13.5m to RBL so we now needed a replacement.

First in was our new Goalkeeper, Boca’s number 1 who had a release clause of €8.75m

Kestler comes in straight away as our new number 1, his value shot up to 69m straight away.

Next in was our new Right Back,

Leguizamon was a player I was tracking at Bochum for the summer, at €5.25m we met his release clause.

Following the sale of Galvez we needed a young Left Back

Regnier joins us from Guingamp for €6m rising to €7.25m

And the final signing was a blockbuster signing. All my scouts rated him really high and a lot of clubs were after him, He signed as a star player I assume that is what swayed him.

€40m is a big investment but I’m trusting my staff. The fact his value soared to €88-105m straight away gives me confidence.

We still have a lot to play for this season, We are in the Europa League and We want to get away from the relegation zone.
