January Out

After selling nearly half a billion euros worth of talent in the summer the big clubs came circling again. Centre back Torres who we signed from Barcelona for €20m leaves us for their rivals Real Madrid for €48m. Pinto leaves the club for the second time in his career this time for 18.5m to RB Leipzig.
Blomberg was signed 6 seasons ago for just €800,000 from Sirius in Sweden, after 103 games for the club and two loans away he leaves for a massive €50m to join FC Bayern aged 23. Following loan spells ay Union SG and Luton and an injury to Gomez Contreras has emerged this season on the left wing. Dortmund saw enough to pay €59m for him now, a €57m profit for the club.

January In

With €1bn transfer budget I again invested in youth this window. With the high turnover I think it is important to keep on top of it.

First team signings

Two of the signings will go straight in the first team

Zoria left in the summer and Maia has stepped up but we have been left short at Left back, We signed 19 year old young talent Pavelka who had been first choice the last 3 seasons for Slavia Praha. A €8.75m fee was paid.

Bossio comes in to strengthen our centre midfield options, and Argentinos Jrs youth product who had spells at San Martin (SJ) €220k fee, and Atl. Tucuman €550k fee makes the move to Portugal for €4m. Our scouts liked the look of him as a playmaker for the side.

Youth signings

Goalkeeper

I’ve been on the look out for new keepers for a while now as interest in Binzugna has been ramping up. Already capped for Uruguay under 20s, and First team back up to an aging Santiago Mele, I think my scout have found the next Uruguayan number 1. He was River Plates first choice this past season. A loan to Nurnberg has been agreed for the rest of the season. An €8.5m fee

Centre Back

Staying in Argentina we  snapped up Bernardi for €8.25m from Argentinos Jrs, he will be sent out to Rio Ave for the rest of the season on loan.

Christogeorgos I wasn’t sure if I was keeping him here or loaning out but Monaco offered Important Player squad status so at 20 game time is crucial, He is earmarked as a starter for us next season so 6 months in France will prepare him. An €11.75m fee and a player I’m excited about.

Dias came up after I asked a scout to find me Portuguese talent. A €5m fee seems low risk and hopefully we have a long term squad player.

Another player who came up in the same focus as Dias is Cailler, signed aswell for €5m from Rio Ave and loaned out to Leixoes for first team football. He looks promising.

Wing Back

Not all the Portuguese talent was in Portugal, the scout found Nuno Mourao in Switzerland playing for Young Boys, A €9.5m fee was paid and he was loaned out to Osasuna for the rest of the season.

Defensive Midfielder

Liechtenstein youngster Jager joins us from Zurich for €12.75m, He already has 10 caps for his country and has been loaned to CF Estrela Amadora for the rest of the season.

Lazio youngster Strippoli joins for just €1.1m and then moves to Hatayspor on Loan.

Wide Attackers

Who doesn’t love wide attackers, €7.75m on 17 year old Angolan Winger from Real Sporting, Good dribbling, Technique, Balance and Bravery gives Guimaraes a great basis to start developing.

Adam Lopez young 18 year old American winger, has signed on a free at the end of his contract, His speed, aggression and determination stand out. His technicals need improving but we can work on them

Another player that was found under our Portuguese focus in Italy was Caldeira a young 17 year old winger again costing €5m.

Striker

Could Baier be our next Mateus, signed for €11m aged 17, his physicals look good already. He will spend rest of season in B team (Spoiler he scores 14 in 11 games for them)

Competitions

Back to back title wins, less goals, More points! We have a strong young squad here this season. Despite all the departures we managed to hold on to the title.

Just the 1 cup this season. Napoli knocked us out of the Champions League.

The star player was clearly Sidnei Capriati our one signing from last summer. 21 goals and 16 assists from center midfield is a great return. Rugasevic emerged as our first choice DM as the season went on. 4 players had over 10 assists 6 had over 10 goals with Pedersen scoring 24, he and Capriati managed to cover the loss of Mateus.

Summer Window

Transfers Out

Over half a billion Euros in transfer fees received in one summer! It is the price of success. I mentioned above Rugasevic’s emergence and FC Bayern saw enough triggering his €56m release clause. A Whopping €41.25m profit after 2 seasons at the club.
Carlucci returned to Italy after not making the grade here, we broke even on his fee for what we paid for him. I mentioned that Binzugna had interest and Spurs paid €69m (€62.25m profit) after 98 games for us.
Giannoccoli Who had a successful loan at AZ last season leaves for Dortmund after they offered €40m (€33.75m profit)
Arsenal met Montanez €52m release clause (€40m profit), Escobedo whos been our main starter at CB the last few seasons joins Juventus for €47.5m (€39.25m profit) after 140 games for the club. Rosales joined from Chivas for €14.25m, after loans at Willem II, Tigres and Sassuolo it became clear he wouldn’t make the grade here was when Orlando City offered €15m we accepted.
Vernet leaving was disappointing, I had big plans for him but he couldn’t say no to a €31m move to United (€22m profit), Gomez scored 8 and set up 9 this past season and PSG saw enough to part with €57m (€42.25m profit).
Marklund cost €2.1m from AIK, when Famalicao offered €9.75m for a squad player we accepted it.
Tellez left the club for Southampton for €40m (€31m profit)
In back to back seasons now my midfield pairing has been poached from me, Star player Capiriati lasted just 12 months as Newcastle met his €65m release clause (€43m profit) and RB Leipzig met Cappiello’s €54m release clause. (€45.25m profit)

Transfers in

Following another summer of departure we have signed 6 players, 3 for first team and 3 for future. Don’t forget we signed some quality in January in preparation for the departures this summer.

First team in

Centre midfield

First up is a free signing to play Centre Midfield. He has all the attributes to play just about anywhere, At 5’5 his height is a slight concern a foot shorter than Capriati but I will work with him tactically

Left Wing

€40m was paid out for Sifuentes from Ajax a Left winger who will slot in to replace the loss of Gomez.

Striker

Our new no9. Pedersen did well last season with 24 goals but Burnett looks like he could have more about him. At €25m it could end up being cheap.

Youth team in

Defensive midfielder

Following Rugasevics departure and Luis ageing years another DM was signed. AT just €7.5m its a low fee potential high value signing.

Attacking Midfielder

€12m was spent on young 17 year old Caro. He’s gone on loan to FC Thun to help his development.

Wide Attacker

€23.5m release clause was paid for 17 year old Brazilian winger who will spend the season on loan at Standard to help his development.

Another successful season and our recruitment and develop structure is paying off big time. We are constantly on the look out for more talents as well as developing our own. Our total sales have now passed €3.7billion and we’ve spent €1.6billion so over €2bn profit.
