I can imagine, that before the announcement of this website, most of you won’t have known who Dr Otterman was, or much about me at all, l so I wanted to put together a little introduction post so that you can all know a little bit more about me. I’m pretty much a novice when it comes to writing about Football Manager, but I have been playing the game for some 20 odd years in its various forms. I blogged a little bit about a save I had with Ipswich, but never found something to massively sink my teeth into in terms of writing consistently, this website and the help of Dan Gear and Cleon is my drive to change that.
I’m a 35-year-old Arsenal fan, so I know glory and despair in bountiful measures, I’m obviously a massive sports fan, with most of my free time spent on watching a variety of sports, not just football, but also NFL, F1 and boxing. If you’re over on our Discord channel, you’ll see me active on these channels.
Probably one of the leading questions people might ask about me is how someone you’ve barely ever heard of landed in a position with two Football Manager Hall of Famers in Dan and Cleon. Football manager is probably how the three of us got to know each other, but through sports and other hobbies we found many things in common, and over the years I’m moderately happy to call them both friends. Dan is someone who I’ve helped produce graphics for over a few versions of the game, be it from face pack additions, to transfer graphics, and Cleon is more of a boxing guru for me, we both have a massive passion for the sport and tend to feel pretty similar about various fighters. The idea for the site itself pretty much came from the ideal conversation (Me telling Dan how much I could improve his site lol) and the idea of Cleon coming back to writing full time and producing his “Football Manager Playbook” series. It’s already been a great pleasure working with both of these guys, and a real honour to be asked to put together the book for Cleon, but this is just the beginning, we have a whole host of ideas to keep things fresh and interesting on the site, and I can’t wait to bring them all to fruition.
As to what you can expect from me in terms of solo projects, I have a few ideas moving forwards for things I would like to do, writing about Football Manager is obviously going to be a big part of this, but I intend to bring my love for different sports, and different games to the forefront as well. One of the first ways I intend on doing this is with the brand new F1 Manager game that is going to be on early release this week. I’ve seen a number of people in the FM Community excited about the game, and you’re not the only ones, I’ve been an F1 fan since I was a child, and moving forwards I will look to not only write about this game but also intend to be hoping on stream to show off my save as well. So please look out for an announcement on our Twitter channel for this.
Obviously with FM23 just around the corner, I have my mind geared towards this as well, I’ve been bouncing ideas off both Dan and Cleon, and I’ve decided to mesh my love for football and the NFL together in one save by going to manage in the MLS. I will be running a series of posts throughout FM23 titled “Building a Team” taking over St. Louis, a new expansion team. I won’t go into too much detail at this point in time but I’m hoping to make this a fresh series where I focus on more than just year-to-year updates and bring a fresh perspective on a few things.
Thanks for taking the time to let me introduce myself, and I’ll catch you all over on the socials
